Abstract
This polygon data layer represents counties for Southeastern Wisconsin in 1990. The dataset was originally published by the Legislative Technology Services Bureau in 1992.[This data layer is a polygon shapefile of the county boundaries in Wisconsin, derived from the 2000 TIGER Line Files. It is referenced to the Wisconsin Transverse Mercator (WTM) projection system, North American Datum 1983 with the 1991 adjustment (NAD83/91)..]
Purpose
This layer is intended for reference and mapping purposes and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [This data layer is for use in generalized mapping applications. The level of accuracy does not support detailed local analysis. The data layer is intended for use with GIS software.]

Description
[2000 TIGER line files were downloaded off the U.S. Census Bureau's web site as zipped files. The zipped files were unzipped using PKZIP. The coverages were created through a series of AMLS run on ArcInfo workstation 8.0 on an NT operating system. The original coverages were in decimal degree, with a datum of NAD83. The coverages were reprojected into WTM83/91. The resulting coverages were then appended to form a statewide coverage. Counties with errors were then noted, changes were corrected on the original county coverage, and were appended once again to form a statewide coverage. Both the single and multi-part polygon shapefiles were subsequently created from the appended coverage.]
