Abstract
This line data layer represents the connecting routes of the Ice Age Trail for Wisconsin in 2019. The dataset was originally published by the Ice Age Trail Alliance on May 14, 2012 and later updated on September 25, 2019.[This vector line dataset represents the Ice Age National Scenic Trail and select other trails in the vicinity of the Ice Age Trail in Wisconsin.]
Purpose
This layer is intended for reference and mapping purposes and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [This line dataset was created to generate both digital and hardcopy public use maps of the Ice Age Trail (IAT), assist with management of existing IAT, and plan for completing the IAT. These data were created cooperatively by the Ice Age Trail Alliance (IATA) and the National Park Service Madison Trails Office using data from GPS (Trimble Pathfinder Pro, Trimble GeoXT, Trimble Juno, recreation grade) and digitized data (at a minimum scale of 1:24,000 using topo maps and/or aerial photography as the background).]

Description
[USGS 7.5' topographic quadrangle maps were sent to local volunteers who were instructed on how they should depict the location of the IAT. Volunteers were chosen based on their knowledge of the IAT. After these maps were returned to the GIS Coordinator, they were digitized and assigned basic attributes using Arcedit. Attributes were assigned by the GIS Coordinator using NPS and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources official documents. Field checks were performed by Ice Age Trail Alliance staff and volunteers.]

Process Step
Description
[As time permits, more accurate IAT information is being gathered and incorporated. Measurements of IAT locations are taken in the field using a Trimble Pathfinder Pro or Trimble GeoXT GPS receiver. Maximum PDOP is 6.0 and differential correction is performed.]

Description
[Each time the IAT is consctructed or rerouted, these data are updated. Locational information is obtained using corrected Trimble GeoXT GPS data, uncorrected Trimble Juno GPS data, recreational grade GPS data, or digitized from USGS topo maps, aeriel photos, or similar. This is an ongoing process.]

Description
[This map presents low-resolution imagery for the world and high-resolution imagery for the United States and other areas around the world. The map includes NASA Blue Marble: Next Generation 500m resolution imagery at small scales (above 1:1,000,000), i-cubed 15m eSAT imagery at medium-to-large scales (down to 1:70,000) for the world, and USGS 15m Landsat imagery for Antarctica. The map also includes i-cubed Nationwide Prime 1m or better resolution imagery for the contiguous United States, Getmapping 1m imagery for Great Britain, and GeoEye IKONOS 1m resolution imagery for Hawaii, parts of Alaska, and several hundred metropolitan areas around the world. I-cubed Nationwide Prime is a seamless, color mosaic of various commercial and government imagery sources, including Aerials Express 0.3 to 0.6m resolution imagery for metropolitan areas and the best available United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP) imagery and enhanced versions of United States Geological Survey (USGS) Digital Ortho Quarter Quad (DOQQ) imagery for other areas.
