Abstract
This point data layer represents nursing homes in Wisconsin as of November 20, 2001. The dataset was originally published by the Wisconsin State Department of Health Services on November 20, 2001.[This data layer is a point shapefile showing the distribution of WI nursing homes as of 11/20/2001. It shows the result of geocoding the addresses from the WiDHFS nursing home data set. It is referenced to the Wisconsin Transverse Mercator (WTM) projection system, North American Datum 1983 with the 1991 adjustment (NAD83/91). Some addresses are not geocoded to the street level due to inadequance of exact information. Refer to MCODE and LCODE to know record-specific details on the geocoding level.]
Purpose
This layer is intended for reference and mapping purposes and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [To show the distribution of WI nursing homes for business analysis purpose. This data layer is for use in generalized mapping applications. The level of accuracy does not support detailed local analysis. The data layer is intended for use with GIS software.]

[The nursing home data table was extracted from the federal ASPEN database. There are 421 records. The nursing home data table was geocoded with Centrus. Certain mannual processing was utilized to get close-enough geocodes. The geocoded data was converted into shapefile with 230 points in ArcView 3.1. The shapefile was transformed into WTM91. A metadata record was created with SMMS 3.2.]
