Abstract
This point data layer represents airports in Wisconsin in 1996. The dataset was originally created by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics and published by the Legislative Technology Services Bureau in 2000.[The Public-Use Airports database is a point shapefile of aircraft landing facilities in Wisconsin referenced to the Wisconsin Transverse Mercator System (WTM) North American Datum 1983 with the 1991 adjustment (NAD83/91). Additional attribute data is provided upon request. It contains data on the physical and operational characteristics of the landing facility, current usage including enplanements and aircraft operations, congestion levels and usage categories.]
Purpose
This layer is intended for reference and mapping purposes and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [This data layer is for use in generalized mapping applications. The level of accuracy does not support detailed local analysis. The data layer is intended for use with GIS software.]
