Abstract
This data represents classified trout spring ponds for Wisconsin in 2021. [Trout Waters are represented by Class I, Class II or Class III waters. These classes have specific ecological characteristics and management actions associated with them. For more information regarding Trout Classifications, see the Fisheries Trout Class Webpages. (https://dnr.wi.gov/topic/fishing/trout/streamclassification.html). This dataset contains information on the location, size, and trout classification of over 100 trout spring ponds. *Anglers can also use the classified trout maps for each county at the DNR’s Trout Stream Maps page or use the Trout Regulations and Opportunities User Tool (TROUT).]
Purpose
This data is intended for reference and mapping purposes, and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [The Trout Spring Ponds layer shows Areas of Special Natural Resource Interest (ASNRI) in Wisconsin that are trout spring ponds.]
