Abstract
This data represents roads and Right Of Ways (ROW) for Manitowoc County, Wisconsin in 2023 and includes the layers "MANITOWOC_ROADS_2023" and "MANITOWOC_ROW_2023".[Roads: Centerline is a linear feature class that represents roads in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. It contains the low-to-high address ranges for both the left and right sides of roads. This feature class may contain actual high and low or theoretical high and low addresses depending on how the municipality reported their values. ROW: The parcel data set delineates the tax parcels and associated annotation in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. Each parcel is attributed with the County's parcel identification number (PIN). The PIN is used to relate parcels to tax listing databases. Parcel boundaries were derived from a variety of sources including GPS control, Manitowoc County digital orthophotography (DOP), an adjusted version of the WDNR LandNet, scanned/registered tax parcel assessment sheets, legal descriptions, certified survey maps (CSMs), subdivision plats, and road centerlines and hydrology developed from DOPs. These source materials were of several different scales and were from dates ranging from the early 1930's to present. Parcels were mapped to fit within Manitowoc County's Public Land Survey System grid using coordinate geometry (COGO) or screen digitizing. (Note: The County does not map parcels in the City of Manitowoc and they are not included in this data set).]
Purpose
This data is intended for reference and mapping purposes, and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [Roads: The purpose of the centerline data set is to support address range management. Road centerlines are used for mapping, geocoding, and to support computer-aided dispatching. ROW: The digital parcel map was created primarily for overlaying with other digital layers created by Manitowoc County for internal use. The parcel map is a representation of the geometry and topology of current tax parcels in Manitowoc County. This information is intended for cartographic use, general spatial analysis, and as a spatial index to land related information. They are not intended for legal, survey, or other related uses. The tax parcel map is not a substitute for the land ownership and interest descriptions contained in individual deeds.]

Statement
Provided access to archived data at UW-Madison. [Road centerlines were created in 2000 by Aero-Metric, Inc. as part of a digital orthophotography project. The position of the centerlines were checked against orthophotograhs created in 2005 and 2010 by Manitowoc County. Attributes needed to use the centerline file for emergency dispatching were added by the Manitowoc County GIS Office in late 2004. Edits are made within days of new information being reported to the GIS Office.]
