Abstract
This data represents public land survey system (PLSS) corners for Portage County, Wisconsin in 2019. [This is a coordinate file for Public Land Survey System monuments. Many monuments are located by traditional survey methods, but a growing number are located using GPS to 3rd order Class 1 standards (1:50000). The Corner_id field is the Romportl number and can be used to hyperlink to tiesheets ex. gisinfo.co.portage.wi.us/Tiesheet_PDF/[Corner_id].pdf. Method has four values currently in use. A = GPS FGDC class, B = GPS dual observation, E = Conventional Survey, F = Map adjustment.]
Purpose
This data is intended for reference and mapping purposes, and may be used for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production, or to provide a basemap to support graphical overlays and analysis with other spatial data. [The purpose of the Section_Corners file is to provide coordinates that are the basis for Portage Countyparcel mapping and to provide a link to digital tie sheets available online.]
